Emma’s passivhaus journey started in 2008 when she led the development of the UK’s first multi-residential certified passivhaus scheme for Exeter City Council. Since then, Emma has been responsible for delivering over 100 passivhaus homes across the City and more recently the start on site of two UK first passivhaus developments; an Extra-Care elderly housing village and Leisure Centre.
Emma is a champion for passivhaus and a Trustee of The Passivhaus Trust (UK). Her interest in developing high performing, healthy and climate resilient buildings comes as a consequence of her professional background in commercial property development and her desire to deliver value for money. Her most recent endeavour has been to set up a wholly owned Local Government development company to upscale passivhaus development across Exeter to deliver a return on profit for re-investment into public services. Her current pipeline of passivhaus homes is in excess of 1,000.
As an early adopter of Passivhaus, Emma has first-hand experience of delivering the standard through five generations of evolved passivhaus approaches. She knows how deliver passivhaus successfully, how to derive optimum value from passivhaus investments and how to sell the business case for passivhaus.
